The best and brightest of the pharmaceutical and biotech industries were celebrated at a glittering ceremony in London at the 2008 Scrip Awards hosted by the leading UK broadcaster Peter Sissons on December 10th.
The Awards achieved their aim of spotlighting the many excellent achievements of the industries, in spite of the uncertain economic climate.
While no one company swept the board in 2008, GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals were the night's biggest winners, each garnering two awards. Wyeth Research's former president Dr Robert R Ruffolo was also honoured with the Scrip's Lifetime Achievement Award.
"I couldn't have ever imagined a better way to end my career", says Dr Ruffalo.
"This Scrip Lifetime Achievement Award is the most important award I have ever won."
