Rich country commitments to provide funding for AIDS surged to $8.7 billion last year, an almost $2 billion increase from 2007.
The amount of actual money received rose by 56% to $7.7 billion in 2008, finds a joint report by UNAIDS and non-profit Kaiser Family Foundation.
